Historic palace in the heart of the Dolomites
Villa Francescon, also called Palazzo Barbuio-Gaio, is a wonderful antique dwelling, facing on the main square of Mel (Belluno). The building has a central body, date back to the 14th century, and a most recent wing, oriented towards Mazzini street. It’s a National Heritage and one of the most ancient palace in the town, that raises great interest from the historical and the artistic point of views. Some 15th century frescos, assigned at the painter Pomponio Amalteo, decorate the main façade, and other later painting have been found inside, especially on the first floor.
